This paper discusses the meanings and significations of women’s music making and dancing in Biedermeier Vienna with the aim to demonstrate the specific changes and differentiations this cultural practice underwent in the course of urban bourgeois music life development by means of a set of sources standing for different aspects of daily life (music publishing, female education, journalism).
