Alexandros Charkiolakis studied music in the Hellenic Conservatoire in Athens and the University of Sheffield where he graduated with a Bachelor in Music (Hons) and a Master’s in Music by research in 2004. He has published papers and articles in major Greek and European musical and musicological periodicals. He has participated in several international conferences presenting his research work. Along with Nikos Maliaras, he edited the collection of essays Manolis Kalomiris – 50 years after (Athens: Fagotto Books, 2012). Also he was the general editor for a book about the composer Alekos Xenos that will be published in 2014 by the Benaki Museum Editions.  He has worked as a musicologist in the Music Library of Greece ‘Lilian Voudouri’ and from January 2013 he is head of the ‘Erol Üçer’ Music Library and Lecturer at  MIAM in the Istanbul Technical University.
