Anita Mayer-Hirzberger studied musicology and art history at the University of Graz, as well as trumpet at the University of Music in Graz; has habilitation in historical musicologicy at the Institute for Analysis, Theory and History of Music at the University of Music and Performing Arts in Vienna. She is associate professorr at the Institute for Analysis, Theory and History of Music at the University of Music and Performing Arts in Vienna. Main topics of research: socio-cultural meaning of music, music and politics, music identity in early modern age, in the late 19th and 20th centuries. Her book ...ein Volk von alters her musikbegabt. Der Begriff ‘Musikland Österreich’ im Ständestaat was published in 2008 (Lang Verlag).
